Online Poker Legal Issues by Bestcasinos4fun.com
Posted on February 2009 in offshore betting
Over the years, poker became extremely popular at the casinos all over the world. With the advent of computers and internet, many more people have started playing various forms of online poker at the best casinos. The Worlds Series of Pokerâs uncomfortable relationship with online gambling emerged in 2003; when an accountant who qualified through an online tournament went on to win the main event, making online poker more popular than ever before. At that point in time, advertising of online poker sites on television exploded and the Justice Department stepped in. In June of 2003 the Justice Department warned the National Association of Broadcasters that any person or entity that aids or abets online betting is punishable as a principal violator.
About half of the 9000 players in the Worlds Series of Pokerâs main event qualified through an online satellite tournament. However the tournament commissioner said that the online tournaments didnât put a player into the World Series, it was the $10,000 cash for a seat at the table.
The televised Worlds Series of Poker tournament was delayed for several minutes the first day because anyone wearing a dot-com poker logo would not be allowed to play. There were about a thousand players that flipped shirts inside out and workers that covered the dot-com symbols with black tape.
The house bill in congress would ban Internet gambling except fore horse race betting and state lotteries. It is an attempt to close a loophole in the 1961 Wire Act, meant to crack down on racketeering. The Wire Act forbids business from using a wire communication facility to assist in placing bets on any sporting event or contest. However, according to a federal appeals court in New Orleans, the law does not cover other types of casino betting which leaves some doubt on whether prosecutors can shut down Internet poker and other casino games. With or without a new law from Congress, the Justice Department interprets all online gambling to be illegal. Other countries allow it, so online companies set up operations outside the United States with easy access to U.S. players on their computers.
The online poker advocates say that the Justice Departmentâs enforcement practices have focused on operators of online sports gambling sites, not sites that offer only poker. It would be hard to arrest the poker site operators in Costa Rica, Aruba, and other offshore operations, but many argue that poker tournaments online technically are not gambling. The argument is you get a prize for the competition. Also, prosecuting a business for promoting a dot-net site that does not have direct web links to its dot-com cousin makes for difficult legal work in court.
Online poker players have joined a group called the Poker Players Alliance to lobby Congress to stop the Internet gambling bill from passing in the Senate. Since the House passed bill in July, alliance membership has more than doubled to 75,000. If the bill passes, it would drive the business of poker underground, but for now it remains in the open.

Catching Up With the Nhl
Posted on February 2009 in matched betting
I live in Canada, so I am surrounded by a skewed awareness of the NHL. It is a condition of citizenship here that you are able to discuss the power play woes of teams, the playoff prospects of the nearest squad, and the injuries that are keeping Canadian stars out of action, even if you are far from a hockey fan. I know, and frankly Iâm thankful, that the rest of the world isnât obsessed with hockey like my fellow Canadians are. Despite that, though, hockey games have two teams and you can bet on them, so they are at least worth a little attention. If you havenât been watching the NHL much this year here are 10 things you need to know to get up to speed with what is going on. Happy betting, eh!
1) Home is sweet. Road? Not so much â There are some teams with ridiculous differences in their performance home and away. The most glaring is Minnesota. They have the third best home record in the league, and the second worst on the road. Calgary is almost as bad, and Florida and Boston are other squads that would probably be better off just forfeiting road games and getting some extra rest.
2) The Flyers are grounded â For a good part of the last two decades the Philadelphia Flyers have been a solid, decent team that wasnât much fun to play. Those days are long gone. The Flyers are in the midst of one of those nver Broncos of the NHL.
5) Scoring is fun. It isnât always profitable â There have been some incredible individual performances in the NHL this year. Sidney Crosby, despite being only 19, seems determined to run away with the scoring title. Tampa Bay teammates Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis are tied for second in league for scoring with last yearâs rookie of the year Alexander Ovechkin. Donât get blinded by the fireworks, though â all three of those playerâs teams have been pretty bad bets this season.
6) Key injuries arenât always key â Calgaryâs Jarome Iginla was probably playing the best hockey in the Western Conference, so it would seem logical that the Flames would struggle when he went down with a knee injury. Instead, the team just kept on winning, and they scored seven against Colorado despite missing their chief offensive threat. Ottawa is incredibly hot despite missing Jason Spezza, and having star defenseman Wade Redden on and off the injury list all season. Donât fall into the trap of assuming that a steam is in trouble without a star.
7) Become a Sharks fan â San Jose may not be a hockey hotbed, but the Sharks sure have been great to bet on. They are the top team in the league on the moneyline, they are profitable ATS, and the have gone under 26 times in 43 tries â a sweet 60 percent clip.
The Northwest is a mess â The five teams in the Northwest Division â Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Minnesota and Vancouver â are all separated by just five points. There is a new division leader every day. None of the teams are among the true elite of the league, but they are reasonably well matched, they donât like each other and the stupid

Playtech House Edge
Posted on February 2009 in horse racing bets
Whether you fall under the category of unlucky or undisciplined, any type of player can gain an advantage by knowing how to play. If you know the odds, you can usually improve your chances of winning greatly.
Different casino games offer a wide variety of casino odds. As the house edge increases the chances of you taking any money home on that game decreases. Thus, the reason it is called the house edge. In an online casino, the house edge is dependant upon the type of games the software offers and the variables involved in the game itself.
For example, there are many different types of blackjack out there on the market. There is single deck, multi-deck, las vegas style and many more. Each of these styles offer different variables along with different house advantages. By knowing these edges you will have a chance at increasing your percentage of winning.
With playtech, there are many different casino edge percentages. Here are a few of them that should help you out with your betting schemes:
Playtech Single Deck Blackjack ? This game offers a 0.49% house edge. This game is possibly one of the best games to play online especially if you follow a set of basic blackjack strategy.
Blackjack Surrender ? This game offers a 0.39% house edge. Another very low house edge, you can gain a lot in this game if you play to the strengths.
Caribbean Poker ? With the standard rules applied, the house edge for Caribbean Poker is 5.22%.
Casino War ? This six deck version of the card classic carries a 2.88% house edge. A player faced with war should always go to war, as the edge of the house increases via surrender.
Craps ? The house edge on the come and pass lines are roughly 0.47%. This makes these bets pretty sound with minimum house advantage
Derby Day Horse Racing ? The standard house edge in this horse racing game is 5.1%
Keno - The house edge on this casino classic can be as high as 8%. Many people love this game but the chances of coming out on tip would be greater if you played a different game.
Pai Gow Poker ? The casino edge with this game is 2.85%. In the online version, the dealer is always the banker, contrary to its offline counterpart.
These are just a few of the house edge percentages that can be found in the Playtech Software for online casinos. If you stay clear of the games that heavily favor the house, you will definitely have a better chance at winning. Have fun and good luck!

Is Sport Betting For You?
Posted on February 2009 in betting websites
Placing bets have been around for centuries, ever since men realized that competition is in the heart of success. Wagers increase the enthusiasm, the drive, and the determination to win. This may not be the case with everybody, but most of us have to have that final push for us to win.
Almost every event in this world may be tagged with a bet. We put wagers on relationships, on leisure, and sometimes even on random experiences of everyday life. It is no wonder then, that men learned to put wages on results of sports, hence, sports gambling came to life. Sports betting is simply gambling on the outcome of any sports people are fond of, like basketball, football, boxing, wrestling, and racing.
Sports betting has become so popular for people, since it intensifies the drive for competition. It has its way of bringing in more enthusiasts to any sport, and also especially raises attendance for the sport higher than what is normally expected. Betting, you see, clearly awakens the drive of man to succeed. The intense feeling of winning a bet can also be addictive, so it is no wonder that sports gambling reaches the limelight in any sports event.
Not only that, money comes easy in sports betting. You put up a certain amount, and it can double or even triple depending on the guidelines set. Of course, results can go the other way, too. If you lose, the money you placed on a bet will be given to the winner. So you leave your moneys worth to chances, as betting is wont to do. The sad thing here is, sometimes, games can be fixed. What if you are set out to lose? This is a hard pill to swallow, for in the world of betting, you really are leaving everything to chance, and you just have to accept the fact that you have been duped.
Bookmakers are a part of sports betting. These are the so called middle men who makes the transactions with the opposing bets. It is said that bookmakers make more money than the persons who made bets, though. The commission they get comes from the losing side, since the winner has a fixed amount of money to receive for the win.
Bear in mind that sports gambling is not as simple as you think. It is also illegal in the United States. It is also especially hard for the United States to regulate sports betting, since it really does dominate their culture, and it is a fact that sports betting adds up to the anticipation of any game. Ever since the advent of internet, sports betting gained more followers than ever, since internet made things easier for these bets to come to. The internet also opened a whole new arena for the bookmakers. Now, websites intended for sports wagering abound.
Sports betting may or may not be good for you. You alone can decide on that. Just remember you cannot leave everything to chance.

Demo Production and Distribution - a Producer Perspective
Posted on February 2009 in bet fair
Here is a checklist that will maximize your chances of getting heard and respect the listener’s time.
1. Never send more than three songs unless specifically requested otherwise. Demo listeners like watching the “in” pile diminish and the “out” pile grow as quickly as possible. If the listener has a limited time to listen, which is usually the case, the tendency is to listen to a tape/CD they know they can complete. So if you send a demo with ten songs on it and someone else’s demo has one song, you can bet that the “out” pile will grow quickly with one-song demos. There’s also the psychology that implies, “I’ve sent you the song you need!” This is particularly true in pitching songs to producers for a specific artist. Along those same lines, most people resent getting tapes/CDs with 20 songs and a letter that says, “I know you’ll like at least one of these, so just pick out what you want.” They want you to do that and send them three songs or less. Songs you totally believe in. If you’re not far enough along to be able to decide, you’re not ready. When sending CDs with more than three songs, highlight three you want the listener to focus on first, and include the numbers of the cuts in your cover letter and lyric sheets (so they have a reference while the CD is on their player and they can’t see the label). If they like those, they’ll listen to the others. And please, remove the shrink-wrap!
2. Place your best and most commercial song first. If you have a strong up-tempo song it’s a good bet to start with that. If they don’t like the first one, it may be the only shot you get. If you’re sending a cassette, put all the songs on the same side and put the label only on the “play” side.
3. Never send your original master tape or CD. You may never see it again and it’s not fair to saddle its recipient with responsibility for it.
4. Always cue your tape to the beginning of the first song. You don’t want the person to start listening in a bad mood because you just wasted his time making him rewind your tape. When you make your copies, leave four seconds between songs. Most cassette decks have an automatic search feature, which finds the silence between songs stops the fast-forward and automatically starts playing the next song. Obviously, this isn’t a problem with CDs. If your CD contains more than the first four you want heard, clearly mark on the on the CD and printed insert, which ones you want them to hear.
5. Send a lyric sheet neatly typed or printed. Letterhead is impressive. It says “This is my business and I take it seriously.” Some don’t like to look at lyrics while they listen, but most do. It’s a time saver to be able to see it all at once and to see the structure of the song graphically laid out on the page. Lead sheets (with melody and lyric together) are not sent out with demos. They’re good to have at the point where a producer wants to record your song and you wanted to be sure he/she has the correct melody, but since the current copyright law permits tapes/CDs to be sent for copyright registration, their importance has diminished. Lead sheets are bulky to mail, it’s too difficult to follow the lyric and visualize the song’s form, and many industry pros don’t read music anyway. It also pegs you as a songwriter over 50 who have no experience in submitting demos since this practice went out of style about 25 years ago. Separate the sections of the songs with a space when you type out your lyric sheet. Label each one (verse, chorus, bridge etc.) at the upper left side of the section. Do not type your lyrics in prose fashion. Lay them out with the rhymes at the ends of the lines so the structure and rhyme schemes of the song can be seen immediately.
6. Make sure there’s a copyright notice (© 2003 I.B. Cool, All Rights Reserved) on the bottom of the lyric sheet and on the tape or CD label. Technically, this isn’t necessary but it alerts everyone that your song is protected, whether it’s registered or not.
7. Cover letters should be short and to the point. Let the music speak for itself and avoid hype. A professional presentation will do more to impress someone than “I know these are hit songs because they’re better than anything I’ve ever heard on the radio,” or “I just know that we can both make a lot of money if you’ll publish these songs.” Avoid the temptation to tell your life story, and don’t explain how you have a terminal disease, you’re the sole support of your 10 children and if these songs don’t get recorded they’ll all be homeless or worse. In fact, don’t plead, apologize or show any hint of desperation. It only gives the message that you have no confidence in the ability of the songs to stand on their own.
Here’s what should be in your cover letter:
a. it should be addressed to a specific person in the company.
b. It should state your purpose in sending the demo. Are you looking for a publisher, a producer, a record deal for you as an artist? Do you want the listener to pay special attention to your production, your singing, your band, or just the song? Is it targeted for a specific artist?
c. List any significant professional credits that apply to the purpose of your submission. If you want your song published, list other published or recorded songs, contests won, etc. If you’re a performer submitting an artist demo, resist the temptation to grab at weak credits: “I played at the same club that (famous star) played.” Tell them what drives you, what inspires you. Keep it short. List real sales figure. Don’t lie.
d. Include any casting ideas you might have if you’re pitching to other artists.
e. Ask for feedback if you want it. Odds are you won’t get it but give it a shot.
f. List the songs enclosed and writers’ names in the order they appear on the tape/CD. (Lyric sheets should also be enclosed in the same order the songs appear on the demo.)
g. Thank them for their time and attention. h. Include your address, phone number, Web site URL and e-mail address (if you have one).
8. Send a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) if you want your tape or CD back. There are two schools of thought about this. On the pro SASE side, if you don’t want to lose all those tapes/CDs, you can’t expect to get them back without it. There’s another school of thought, though, that if you say you want it back, and youâre assuming they won’t like it. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get them back even if you do send a SASE, in which case you’re gambling even more money, and worse could happen than your tape or CD sitting around a producer’s office.
9. Your name, address and phone number should be on every lyric sheet. It seems like such a common sense request. In fact it would be embarrassing to even suggest that you might forget to do it if I didn’t see it happen constantly. The problem on this end is that, between listening sessions at the office, the car, and home, it’s so easy to separate the tape from the box or lyric sheet. Once they’ve gone to the trouble to find your hit song, not finding you are a fate they don’t deserve.
10. be sure you have adequate postage. Also, don’t send your tape in an ordinary stationery envelope. It’s risky because rough postal handling could force the edge of the tape box through the envelope. Use a special envelope with an insulated lining. Some people also prefer the soft “bubble” tape box because it doesn’t have sharp edges and it’s lighter to mail. CDs have an obvious advantage in this respect as there are very lightweight sleeves available for them. Jewel boxes are preferred because, hopefully, they can stack it on a shelf and read the label on the edge if they decide to keep it.
The main thing to remember is to make your demo submission as easy as possible to deal with.
Using the Internet:
Your Demo as Audio File
An increasingly popular strategy is sending your demo as an audio file. It’s rare these days that a record company, producer or manager doesn’t have a high-speed Internet access line. Obviously, many of the above suggestions don’t apply to sound files.
Giant Records A&R Executive, Craig Coburn says (footnote: Music Connection Magazine Vol. XXV #1 01/01/01): “In the future, I would love to see people soliciting the record labels â whether it’s artists, managers or lawyers - using the Internet. I’d like them to send me a letter asking me to check out their web site rather than sending me the music.
We’re not getting that many electronic submissions yet and I’d like to. When I’m talking to people, I encourage them to send MP3’s The Quality of MP3 is not exactly up to the quality of a CD, but it’s absolutely close enough for an A&R person to hear the music and to know if it’s something that excites us or not.”
The most popular formats are MP3 and RealAudio. The fidelity is not quite CD quality but still adequate to show them what you do. There are a couple different procedures for this: Send an E-mail with the audio file attached. Follow the suggestions listed above for cover letter. Include phone number(s). Also include your Web site address so they can click it and go directly to it. When they get to your site, they’ll hopefully find additional bio material, photos and lyrics. Just send them an e-mail intriguing enough to get them to go to your site and hear your music there.
Indie marketing guru Tim Sweeney suggests that because of the limited amount of time someone may want to spend at any site and the degree of difficulty their online access speeds may present, it’s important to help them decide quickly which of your songs may be of most interest to them. You can help by providing a short description like this one provided on the site of Franklin Spicer and Valerie Ford’s Pegasus Project, a soft jazz, world music group.
One People
“The first song Franklin ever heard from Val was a reggae tune she had recorded called One People. He really liked the positive message and the infectious chorus. Franklin talked her into doing a rewrite and making it a Pegasus Project tune. They wanted to share a positive message of how we all are part of one global family. This song was shaped from a number of African musical influences, including the Tuku style. The huge chorus backup vocals were done in two days of recording using seven different singers.”
Note that the description includes information on the style, what it’s about, why it was written and how it was recorded. Their site also includes lyrics to all the songs.
Your demo will introduce you to the eyes and ears of many music industry professionals. Take this introduction very seriously. It’s your job interview. It should look good, have something important to say, and say it well, there are a lot of other applicants for the job. The pros are looking for the best. Be it!

Aquatic Conditioning Programme For The Shoulders
Posted on February 2009 in baseball bet
There are many sports that put strain on the shoulder muscle. This is particularly true for ‘overhead athletes’ who participate in sports such as tennis, javelin, cricket and baseball. Men and women who participate in these sports regularly need to keep the shoulder muscles in mint condition to avoid strain and injury. Even day-to-day activities such as DIY and gardening can produce chronic shoulder pain if the shoulders are not taken care of.
Baseball pitchers put their shoulders through some serious moves every time they throw the ball, so it makes sense that they’ve come up with a programme that keeps their joints and muscles in the shoulder region mobile and powerful - a pitcher with a sore or weak shoulder is of no use to anyone!
This programme, a swimming-based workout especially for pitchers, can be followed by anyone who takes part in exercise, sport or other activities that target the shoulder region.
Swimming is one of the best methods to build up shoulder strength, stability and endurance. The water environment has the added benefit of creating very little stress on the body. However, the resistance available means you can still enjoy a challenging and effective workout. No changes in weights or bands are required - simply increase the force you apply on the water.
Increasing the speed, keeping submerged, opening your fingers and increasing the number of repetitions will all add extra dimensions of challenge to the workout. This means you can progress and let the programme grow with you as your fitness level increases.
The Programme
Take 8 minutes and divide them as follows:
2 minutes free-style
2 minutes high-knee runs
2 minutes breast stroke
2 minutes flutter kicks on the wall
Keep adding on the minutes as your stamina increases.
As simple as that? You bet!
You can also incorporate your regular gym-based shoulder exercises into the workout by doing them in the pool, without weights, just using the water pressure available. Go through each exercise for about 15 to 20 seconds, and perform them at controlled speeds.
Exercising in a heated pool is advised in colder months.
So whether you’re aiming for the Big League or just enjoy some strenuous gardening on the weekend, you can only benefit from this great shoulder-conditioning programme!

Oklahoma Sooners versus Florida Gators College Football Odds and Pick Gamblers Television

College Football BCS Championship Game Oklahoma Sooners versus Florida Gators (-3) January 8th (8:15PM ET) (FOX)
When I begin to handicap a big game the first thing I do is look for the best defense. Clearly its the Florida Gators in this matchup. They gave up 20 points to Alabama and just 10 against an explosive Georgia Bulldog offense. Oklahoma gives up nearly 360 yards a game on offense. Sure Oklahoma is a very explosive offense but so is Florida behind Tim Tebow and company. Another option on offense is gone for Oklahoma as running back DeMarco Murray is out with an injury. For all the hype the Big 12 has been getting lets face it the defenses were below par. When a non-BCS school holds you to your fewest points of the season you have to scratch your head. Is Oklahoma really as good offensively as the numbers suggest or are the defenses they are facing pretty bad and skewing them? Oklahoma is a great program but Florida is better. Florida will make more stops than the Sooners in this contest. Take Florida 3.
